Founder & Florist
Hi, I'm Abby Matson. I've always been an artist at heart. I find solace in transforming spaces, adding a touch of beauty to everything I lay my hands on. Some years ago, I chanced upon Floret’s first book. Mistaking it for a guide on flower preservation, I was instead introduced to the alluring world of flower farming. That inkling of interest turned into a burning passion. I soon enrolled in my very first flower farming course with Floret and transformed my property into a thriving flower farm. The farm now supplies our flower & retail shop in Vergennes, VT.

The Flower Farm
Today, Diddle and Zen is not just a farm but has grown roots deeper into Vermont's floral community. We've expanded our passion, acquiring a charming flower shop in the heart of Vergennes. Beyond the lush fields of our farm, we now specialize in designing wedding florals that have won the hearts of many couples. Join us in our journey from historic roots to vibrant petals, as Diddle and Zen continues to flourish and enchant.

Historic Roots
Nestled in the heart of Vermont's picturesque Addison County, the Diddle and Zen’s original stone house stands as a testament to the passage of time.
Built in 1805, this venerable building has seen the land transform - from a bustling farm to a dairy haven and, later, a veal farm.
Today, it graces the list of Addison County's most significant historic sites. Yet, its most enchanting chapter is its serendipitous journey with our family as a flower farm.

Wedding Florals
Bespoke, sustainably-sourced floral arrangements that blend artisanal craftsmanship with modern elegance.
Our Design Approach
Our design philosophy is rooted in simplicity, collaboration, and quality. Every arrangement we create is thoughtfully designed, driven by both client vision and seasonal inspirations. Florals are a uniquely expressive art form, capable of conveying a spectrum of emotions and moods. We harness this innate expressiveness in our designs to set a mood, craft an atmosphere, and provide arrangements that perfectly meet the expression of the moment. Our creations are abundant yet understated, wild yet intentional. We strive for artful arrangements that pulse with life, pieces that possess both movement and soul. Whether gracing an event or a cozy corner at home, our floral creations make their mark, echoing both nature's elegance and our commitment to quality. Our materials are sourced diversely: from our farm, local foraging, neighboring farms, and even international growers.
Eco-Conscious Cultivation
At the heart of Diddle and Zen is a commitment to ethical and sustainable farming. We steadfastly refrain from using pesticides or harmful chemicals, ensuring that our soil remains as pure as nature intended. This devotion extends to our choice of plants. We prioritize growing heirloom varieties and other distinct breeds, believing in preserving biodiversity and the rich heritage of flora. The result? Larger, more vibrant blooms that not only capture the eye but also symbolize our dedication to a healthier planet. Our flowers aren't just a feast for the senses; they stand as a testament to farming practices that nurture both the earth and its inhabitants.
